The Dagstuhl Publishing Advisory Board
Ever since the earliest days of seminar operations in the 1990s, the publication of seminar documentation has been a fundamental part of Schloss Dagstuhl's concept. Today, this part is covered by the series “Dagstuhl Reports” and “Dagstuhl Manifestos”. At the end of the 2000s, the informatics community approached Schloss Dagstuhl expressing the wish to use the existing publication infrastructure not only for seminar documentation, but also as an open access platform for conference and workshop proceedings since the established publishing landscape lacked such a service. This resulted in the series “Leibniz International Proceedings in Informatic (LIPIcs)” and “Open Access Series in Informatics (OASIcs)”. The portfolio is complemented by the “Dagstuhl Artifact Series (DARTS)”, a series focusing on artefacts, established to meet the needs of the application-related parts of the LIPIcs community, and the journal “Leibniz Transactions on Embedded Systems (LITES)” with a thematic focus on Embedded Systems.
In order to further develop and adapt the publishing house and its portfolio to the needs of computer scientists, taking into account advancement in the Open Access and Open Science environments, Schloss Dagstuhl's Scientific Advisory Board has recommended that an independent consulting body for the publishing house be established. This committee was founded at the beginning of 2023.
The purpose of the Dagstuhl Publishing Advisory Board is to provide support and scientific supervision for Schloss Dagstuhl's publishing department. In particular, the board
- advises in all matters regarding the strategic development of Dagstuhl Publishing,
- defines the guidelines and standards regulating the inclusion of new series and journals into the portfolio of Dagstuhl Publishing,
- monitors the development of Dagstuhl Publishing,
- and supports the publishing team by providing its expertise.

Boudewijn Haverkort
Boudewijn Haverkort, an esteemed professor of computer science at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, has had an illustrious academic career.
For many years, he has been working as a scientist and professor in the field of cyber-physical systems - he has held leadership roles in the Netherlands (University of Twente, Embedded Systems Institute, and currently Tilburg University) as well as in Germany (RWTH Aachen University), and also in a large number of national and international (European funded) research and innovation projects. His broad and varied background makes him the ideal choice for chairman of the Dagstuhl Publishing Advisory Board. Haverkort's expertise and also his extensive experience in research management enable him to lead the Advisory Board's mission to adapt to the changing landscape of scholarly publishing. With his expert knowledge in computer science and academia in general, he brings a fresh perspective, paving the way for the advancement of academic publishing and meeting the current needs of researchers and scholars in the digital age.
The staff of Schloss Dagstuhl, especially those of the publishing department, look forward to working with Boudewijn Haverkort and the entire Publishing Advisory Board in the coming years.
