Research methods in Computing Education Research draw from various fields, including Statistics, Educational Data Mining, Educational Psychology, and Sociology. In addition, study participants in Computing Education Research have been found to be rooted in different "traditions", i.e., to view the domains-specific knowledge through one of several lenses (algorithmic, scientific, societal, or making). The proposed research meeting will bring together research groups representative of several of these research methodologies and traditions with the goal of creating a shared understanding of how future studies in Computing Education Research can be designed to accommodate different lenses and select the most appropriate study designs.
