What is the scope of LIPIcs?
LIPIcs is open for all fields of Informatics.
What is the acceptance rate of LIPIcs?
By Spring 2012, the acceptance rate was roughly 50%.
Is access to the publications in LIPIcs free?
As LIPIcs is published on DROPS (Dagstuhl Research Online Publication Server) under an open access license, the retrieval of all documents is free of charge.
Which license is used?
Since 2013, all articles in LIPIcs are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) license. Thereby, the authors retain their copyrights and readers can re-use the published work in the most meaningful manner.
How is the Editorial Board formed – and developing?
The initial composition of the Editorial Board (EB) reflects the origin of LIPIcs with two conferences in theoretical computer science. The board will be enlarged as new areas of computer science are represented in the series.
How did the Editorial Board work until now?
The main work was the careful handling of applications, in order to develop LIPIcs into a top quality series.
How is long-term availability guaranteed?
- All documents published in LIPIcs are assigned a persistent identifier. We assign to each document a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and a Uniform Resource Name (URN) as persistent identifiers.
- All documents published in LIPIcs are collected by the German National Library which is responsible for not only archiving the documents but also for conversion to future formats or future supply of current environments which allow the long-term retrieval of the publications.
- Of course, Dagstuhl pursues a careful archiving policy, too.
- Mirroring of the LIPIcs sites is supported the
SunSite RWTH Aachen.
How does one cite papers in LIPIcs-conferences?
Citation is guaranteed due to the long-term availability, the assignment of persistent identifiers (DOI, URN) and the thorough collection of all necessary meta data.
LIPIcs conference papers are cited as any other conference paper (print or online), with addition of the DOI/URN:
<author>, <title>, in <editors>, Eds., <conference>, Leibniz International Proceedings in Informatics, Vol. <no.>, <year>, pp. <articleno>:1 - <articleno>:<pages>, <DOI/URN>
Is LIPIcs included in the main scientific indices?
All LIPIcs volumes are indexed in dblp, see LIPIcs @ dblp.
Furthermore, LIPIcs volumes are indexed in Scopus (up to volume 61 as of January 2017).
Are there costs that a conference associated with LIPIcs incur?
- We charge the total cost of the entire volume to the conference organisation. We do not charge individual authors.
- We charge a Processing Charge of 60 EUR (net) ...
- per published paper (if the average count of main text pages (number of pages excluding title page and bibliography) per article is ≤ 20)
- per block of 20 main text pages (otherwise).
Is there a package that includes printed proceedings?
Usually the most efficient solution is a local printing at the conference institution. Dagstuhl may help finding a German printer, however all negotiations, costs for printing and postal delivery are left to the conference organizers.
Is there a LaTeX style for LIPIcs?
Yes, it is available via the author's instructions.
Where can I get additional administrative and technical information?
More details can be found on the web pages of our online publication server DROPS.
