Software forms the basis for almost all value creation processes, government control, and social participation. With the advent of powerful generative and agentic AI, the way software is developed, tested, and operated is fundamentally changing. But what specific research questions does this raise for software engineering? This workshop aims to develop a research agenda for AI-driven software engineering and focusses on research questions like:
- Methods: How do established software engineering methods need to be adapted or rethought in order to make the most of the potential of AI?
- Tools: What AI-based tools are needed to make development processes more efficient, secure, and traceable?
- Processes: How are development processes changing as a result of the use of AI – and how can they be designed to reduce technical debt and to maintain quality, transparency, and accountability?
- Skills: What new skills and roles are emerging in software engineering as a result of AI, and how can these be taught?
The workshop offers a platform to discuss these questions together, set priorities, and develop a research agenda.
