Levels of Reviewing Process
Organizers of the corresponding Dagstuhl seminar may decide between two different schemes to ensure scientific quality:
- It is task of the respective organizers to scan all
documents suggested to be published at Dagstuhl Seminar Proceedings.
The organizers will decide on each document whether will be published
or not. Although these publications are not peer reviewed, they still
have some quality guarantee because
- Dagstuhl's invitation policy implies a preselection of potential authors which are relevant to the research topic.
- The scanning process guarantees relevance and a minimum quality.
- The organizers read all documents suggested for publication and ask the authors to improve their documents where appropriate (cf. late breaking papers of other conferences).
- Organizers may also set up a reviewing committee for peer reviewing the proposed papers. Although this (needless to say) means a lot of work, it has advantages for both the organizers and the participants / authors:
- The organizers are official editors.
- Authors contribute a peer reviewed publication.
The organizers should tell their seminar participants in advance, which reviewing model they want to apply.
The level of the reviewing process will be indicated with the online publication of the documents.
