Within this white paper we outline the Evolving Critical Systems (ECS) research domain, which is concerned with the creation of knowledge, processes, protocols, and tools for the efficient development of critical systems that evolve. Furthermore, we suggest a Plan-Evolve-Assess cycle for critical systems evolution and outline a taxonomy of research topics for ECS.
