Exectations play an important role in social systems. Here I will focus on one specific type of expection called second-order expectation or expectation-expectation for short. In the context of social systems theory, it has been sugested that second-order expectations are cruicial for the formation of social order. I will discuss whether this mechanism might be also applied in technological systems consisting of many communicating agents and actors for reducing unvertainty. Simulation studies show that that the degree of order depends on how expectation-expectations are learned.
